I was sitting in NY at a Text IQ Board meeting in the summer of 2021, and the founders of Text IQ, a company I’d invested in, were talking about scaling sales. Omar Haroun, co-founder and COO, was leading sales and had such a crisp understanding of the industry, the customer pain that I had this thought cross my mind:
“One day, this guy is going to build a massive company. When he does, I have to be sure I am there to invest.”
That day arrived in the fall of 2023. Omar had successfully sold Text IQ and started his next project: Eudia. He came to Sierra offices with his co-founders David and Ashish and showed me the 150 customer interviews he’d done! Talk about being data-driven!
He planned to approach 500 customers with legal spending over 100M / year and sell them a Generative AI native software and services that would transform their legal operations and take it from a cost center to a profit center so that they could add value to their enterprise. It was a non-consensus view, but if it were right, it could yield a huge company. I was sold, and along with my good friends Mike Maples Jr. and Arjun Chopra at Floodgate, we seeded Omar.
